Been a while...

Wow. I think it's been a year since I was on here? I don't really remember how to work Xanga anymore... I'll figure it out though.

So, yeah... Lots of changes around here. I am getting divorced, and before you all comment the standard "Sorry to hear that...", let me stop you. I'm not, so please don't be. The same drama over and over for seven years and I'm done. He can't and/or won't suppress his jealous and controlling tendencies and I can't and/or won't live like that. That's all I say on here, because he is still my kids' dad and I don't wanna publicly trash-talk him. But that's what's going on in our lives, and our home has been happy and peaceful since then...

The boys are growing up so much. Andy is starting first grade here soon (here being Harrisonville, we're back. Not super, but the rent is cheaper here, so whatev...). And Aidyn is working on potty training and talks non-stop. Come to think of it, so does Andy. Wonder where they get that...?

Anyway, I'll try to update more later, but that's it for now...

Ewwww... Pee Pee....

Ok, so I know this is not my first child, but this is my first potty training dilemma. Andrew potty trained himself at a year and a half and made life very easy on all of us. Aidyn seems to be caught between two worlds: the "happy to pee-pee in my diaper" world and the "big boys don't have wet pants" world.  He has a potty chair that he has NEVER peed in, even when I whisk him there as he's about to go in the middle of a diaper change. He holds it, sits there uncomfortably for a few minutes, then pees as soon as I put a diaper on him. I would assume that he is just not ready, which is ok since he's only 19 months, but he hates wet diapers and removes his diaper as soon as he pees... About a half dozen times a day, I am greeted by a naked baby holding a wet diaper up saying "ewww.. Pee-Pee." He's halfway changing himself... Do I encourage the self-changing diaper phase or should I be pushing the potty chair at this point... Help please.

It's Official...

My brother is gone as of this morning... I've been holding back tears all week, knowing this was coming. Knowing he voluntarily signed up for it... Yet, reluctant to see my little brother leave for war. With modern war strategy, the death tolls are increasingly lower every year and I have no doubt that he will return in one piece... However, I have seen first-hand the effects of war on an already troubled individual, and fear that my brother will experience the same changes. He still has so many issues he never worked through after dad died- largely that he does not know how to effectively or calmly deal with anger or frustration. I am scared that the violent year and half he is about to endure will only accentuate these behaviors... I can't stop picturing my grandpa, who returned from war a broken shell of a man, no longer comfortable in groups, even if they were family, waking himself in the night with the screams his nightmares induced... I don't want my brother to have to go through the mental anguish our grandfather did. Or be filled with rage and aggression like an old friend of mine was after the war deepened those tendencies in him. I am so scared for him.

Open House For Brandan...

LittleBro

Hey all.... We are having an open house at Andrea's apartment for Brandan before he gets deployed. He reports to his base this week, and will be relocated for training by the 21st. From there, he will transfer to Fort Dix (Scary, since they are in the news today... and only 60% of the bad guys were caught... Grrrr to hateful people with weapons...) then go to Kuwait until he receives further instruction... This is will likely be the last opportunity to see him in person for the next year and a half...

Anyone interested is welcome to drop by. The apartment is on Barry Rd, you can call either Andrea or I for directions and to RSVP. My number is 417-619-8785. (If you have Andrea's feel free to call her as well, but for the sake of her privacy, since I didn't ask, I will not post that information). It will start at 6pm on Tuesday the 15th and continue until the last guest leaves... Anyone unable to attend is encouraged to send a card or letter letting him know that he is loved and will be prayed for. Again, not posting for privacy reasons, but if you wish to go this route, email me at LauraSallee@marykay.com and I will pass along the address. Hope to see you there!
